Community Workshop, January 7th

Our communities of Turkey Creek and North Gulfport are valuable historic neighborhoods fortunate to be defined by strong community ties, historic homes and landmarks, and an open space corridor around Turkey Creek. To preserve these assets, our neighborhoods can benefit from improved city services, economic development opportunities, and coordinated neighborhood planning, particularly as we rebuild after Hurricane Katrina.

To launch the community planning process, Turkey Creek Community Initiatives and the North Gulfport Community Land Conservancy invited residents of Turkey Creek and North Gulfport, city and county staff and state representatives to meet in October 2005 and create a shared vision for the future of Turkey Creek and North Gulfport. Together, this group identified goals and strategies to help preserve our local heritage and assets.

The next step in the planning process is a community workshop. The goal of this workshop is to present the possible strategies to rebuild our communities and hear your feedback on the future of these communities. Your ideas will be integrated into the Community Plan. Everyone with an interest in improving and preserving Turkey Creek and North Gulfport is encouraged to attend the next Community Workshop:
